On December 2 European Business Association attended the SME Development Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister of Armenia Mr. Karen Karapetyan in the Office of Government .
Before the discussion of the agenda items, the implementation process of the decisions taken at the previous session has been presented to the Council. In particular, the SME Development Council was reported on the results of
- establishing the procedure for the issuance of country of origin certificates for goods manufactured in Armenia,
- discussion of the problems arising between SMEs and trading centers in the buyer-supplier circuit and some provisions of the Criminal Code and the Tax Code relating to SMEs,
- work done towards the creation of a business incubator in Armenia․
The Council discussed issues related to the customs regulations and the recommended legislative changes for the administrative offenses, the development of leasing in Armenia as an alternative financial instrument and other issues.
During the exchange of opinions that followed, the speakers came up with different approaches and recommendations. Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the comprehensive study of the presented issues and instructed the responsible departments to additionally discuss above mentioned issues and to clarify positions and proposals to the next Council meeting.
The Head of Government also instructed the Minister of Economic Development and Investment to submit proposals on the Council’s composition and work directions at the next meeting of the Council.
