Three days regional meeting of the European Business Organization World Wide Network (EBO WWN) took place for the first time in Tokyo from 2 to 4 December at the EU Delegation in Japan. The meeting was organized by European Business Council Japan and gathered EBO members from more than 30 countries as well as representatives of the EU Commission, local and international businesses and local and national Japanese authorities. Her Excellency EU Ambassador to Japan Ms. Patricia Flor and the major/governor of Tokyo Ms. Yuriko Koike have attended the meeting and made opening speeches. EBA Armenia executive director Ms. Diana Sarumova represented Armenia during the meeting.
One of the reasons for choosing Tokyo as the venue of the EBO WWN 2019 regional meeting has been the recent implementation of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, the largest and most advanced free trade agreement in the world. During the meeting, the general discussion was focused on the features of the Japanese economy in its maturity stage. Of considerable interest were the discussions on the expansion of the existing sustainable and high-quality cooperation between EU and Japanese businesses in third countries within the framework of the recently signed Connectivity agreement between EU and Japan. In closed sessions and workshops the EBOs have discussed governance, best practices in advocacy and the possibility of regional cooperation among them.
Mr. Francesco Formiconi, EBC Japan’s Executive Director, declared that the meeting was a great success and that the Network showed great growth potential great influence in the undergoing trade treaty negotiations of the EU all around the world.
The meeting was hosted by European Business Council Japan and
gathered members from more than 30 countries as well as EU officials, Head of
the EU Delegation in Japan, local and international businesses.
The meeting was launched by the Governor of Tokyo, Ms. Yuriko Koike.
EBA Moldova was represented by Mariana Rufa, who presented the EBA Moldova structure and key focus area of support to businesses.
Also during the EBOWN Autumn Annual reunion in Japan, Tokyo, on 3rd of December, EBA had an excellent meeting with HE Mr. Vasile Bumacov, Ambassador of Moldova in Japan on fostering trade between the two countries and ensure a closer and more productive cooperation on a number of areas relevant for business support and development.
